My mum is getting on a bit bless her, and my brother and I have suggested we pay to have Stannah stairlift fitted in her house. But my mum is refusing to let us do it because she thinks that it will make her stairs look ugly! I mean for goodness sake, she can hardly get up and down the stairs at the moment, my dad has to help her, and he's not much use because he's pretty old as well, I've had a look through some of the catalogs for Stannah Stairlifts and some of them actually look pretty swanky and sophisticated. However they will probably be more on the expensive side. I guess we will have to come to some compromise because I don't want my mum falling down the stairs just because she wants a clutter free hallway!
Like many I always dream of what I would do if I won the lottery UK. I would pay of all my debts, buy a nice car, buy a nice house, buy some nice clothes and most of all go on a dream holiday. All I can imagine is something like this: Isn’t it amazing! This is what dreams are made of! Picture: inmagine.com
3D technology seems to have a firm future in television, and most certainly in sports broadcasting. Sky offer 3D packages for TV, film and sports, and many pubs are now offering 3D showings of sports matches across the UK. Sky even have a 3D pub and venue finder on their website. Virgin Media are now joining the 3D revolution and today announced that they will be broadcasting the French Open in 3D, starting this Sunday May 22nd. It's pretty impressive that they can have live events broadcast in 3D, rather than the painstaking processes in making 3D CGI masterpieces like Avatar, done by animation experts with plenty of maya training and expertise. It's a great way to watch a sports game, you can see exactly what's happening without being constrained to two dimensions and one point of view. It's certainly a welcome advancement. I think it would be a a great idea to make all inner city travel (like buses, tubes, etc) free after midnight. There are so many people traveling around late at night who would be much safer on some sort of public transport, but a lot of people can't afford how expensive it can be so choose to walk. There is a lot of crime in the city at night - muggings, fights, even rapes, and this could be a real way to help combat it, giving people a free way to travel more safely. Even if it's not free, it could be cut price. The tube doesn't even run past 1am most nights, I think they should run until around 3am for all the clubbers and party-goers who are even more vulnerable and at risk if they've been drinking. If Wonga.com sponsored free travel on New Years Eve, couldn't other companies or even the government or Transport for London support free or cheap travel every night? I think it could really help cut crime and help so many people living in an already-costly London. Photo: Annie Mole (Flickr)
