It seems that the commonwealth games are quite literally getting worse by the day. After extensive reports last week of the shambles of the India hosted event, I didn’t think it could get much worse.
Last week we heard about collapsing bridges, dirty and shambolic looking bedrooms and bathrooms and general structural and safety issues throughout the Athletic village. Today we hear that several athletes have arrived at their rooms to find them inhabited with snakes....that’s right snakes. Great big Samuel L Jackson fearing snakes.
On top of this the nation couldn’t even get it right for their own stars, top Boxer athlete Akhil Kumar, who won gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games sat on his bed to simply fall straight through it, finding the bed itself wasn’t constructed properly.
It’s not looking good is it.
